2014 Trends in Enterprise IT

Hybrid cloud: Hybrid cloud will assume immense importance. Enterprises will have to strategize on managing their own infrastructure as well as cloud vendors. A hybrid cloud will gain a new definition of a server and the infrastructure you know in the data center. There might finally be an end to the heated debates over public cloud vs. private cloud architecture in enterprise IT. The rise of hybrid clouds – architectures that combine the security of private clouds with the powerful, scalable and cost-effective benefits of public clouds — should encourage many businesses to adopt a cloud-based infrastructure. Hybrid clouds open up a range of customizable solutions for IT decision-makers while keeping both security hawks and big data advocates happy.

Personal Clouds: Personal clouds will dominate 2014. Everyone from employees and customers to consumers will be using multiple devices and personal cloud services will be the epicentre of content.

IT security will continue to govern: This will be one of the top areas of concern for most businesses, driven by cyber security threat that includes – Mobile Device theft/loss, virus and malware infection, data privacy issues and security risks related to mobile computing.

Cloud Computing: More companies will adopt some type of cloud technology for their business. Many companies will turn to the cloud for modernized office productivity solutions, including virtual desktops and hosted email.

Cloud Identity Management: There will be a need to rethink the security policies for cloud-based applications that are taking over businesses. Reaching new horizons of security in 2014 will be a new challenge for Cloud. The fact for 2014 is that identity must now stretch to fit both on-premises and SaaS applications. Managing who has access to what — and deprovisioning employees when they leave the company — is becoming both more essential and more complicated. Microsoft, Okta, Salesforce, and others are rolling out solutions to address this. Without cloud identity management, enterprises can’t adopt public cloud solutions safely and effectively.

Cloud powered apps: In 2014 the Web will become a major platform for cloud-based applications. With efforts like famo.us giving new life to HTML5 through JavaScript, the web will become a major platform for cloud-based applications.

BYOD & Personal Cloud: In Enterprise IT, BYOD will take an important seat in 2014. Through Mobile Device Management techniques employees will find technology to incorporate personal cloud services in enterprise environment. More users will put data into personal cloud services for synching, streaming and storage.

Cloud Integration: 2014 will bring to market cloud integration & much better APIs. This will enable enterprises to publish & maintain their own public APIs. This will solve the problem of duplicate yet slightly different records about the same products and customers scattered in isolated data stores.
