eHosting DataFort Launches Third Business Continuity Management Survey

eHosting DataFort (eHDF), the region’s leading managed IT services provider and a member of TECOM Investments, today announced the launch of the third Business Continuity Management Survey across the Middle East. Organised in partnership with Continuity and Resilience (CORE) and Business Continuity Institute (BCI), the survey will help understand the disaster recovery (DR) and business continuity management (BCM) maturity and readiness levels of regional organisations.

Businesses today are vulnerable to diverse natural or man-made disasters such as fire, earthquakes, cyclones, cyber threats, as well as network and power failures. Implementation of robust BCM planning can help enterprises effectively respond to such situations without defaulting on commitments for retaining the trust, faith and confidence of key customers and stakeholders.

Last year’s survey found that close to 21 per cent of the organisations had a robust BCM programme in place for the past three years, while 14 per cent had started maintaining and exercising their BC plan. The rest (65 per cent) of the organisations either had no concrete plans to initiate a BCM programme or were still at different stages of implementation in the BCM lifecycle.

The key objective of the survey is to analyse the current adoption trends of DR and BCM in the region and benchmark the readiness and maturity levels against last year. The survey also aims to raise the visibility of business continuity in the minds of the senior management and give a macro view on the corporate preparedness for BCM in the Middle East.

Yasser Zeineldin, CEO, eHosting DataFort, said: “In today’s ever changing and dynamic environment, any organisation is susceptible to business disruptions. Survival and recovery in the aftermath of these occurrences boils down to pre-emptive and suitable contingency planning. The survey has seen tremendous success over the past two years in educating companies to better foresee and plan for such mishaps.”

“In fact, we have seen an increase in the demand for Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Services and a number of customers, both local and international, have made active investments in these services.”

Dhiraj Lal, Executive Director, Continuity and Resilience, said: “Increasingly more organisations in the Middle East are adopting world-class governance and operational best practices. In today’s competitive scenario, an interruption in critical services is almost certain to cause an impact on customer loyalty, market share, revenues, profitability and reputation. Our successful partnership with eHDF for the third consecutive Middle East Business Continuity Survey is testament to the success of the recommendations we have offered over the past two years.”

“The results from the survey will allow us to educate customers on BCM best practices and will demonstrate our continued commitment towards the importance of disaster recovery and business continuity planning.

With a team dedicated to disaster recovery and business continuity and supported by world-class multiple Tier 3 data centres, resilient and scalable infrastructure, eHosting DataFort has established itself as a market leader in the field of Managed IT services. The company has been recognized as the ‘Best Managed Service Provider of the Year’ in 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2013.
