What is a Public Cloud?

A Public Cloud is a computing service provided by a Cloud Services Provider in a virtualized setting. It is available to a set of multiple customers as against a single company. Shared computing resources such as infrastructure, platform or software are provided and accessible over a public network. Services can include, storage, web hosting, software applications, etc. The economic efficiencies created by the sharing of resources is one of the main reasons for organizations opting to move their processes to the Public Cloud besides many other benefits that the service provides.
