Through its partnership with eHosting DataFort, Polycom distributor FVC aims to drive value in the Middle East through managed video services

Network Middle East - June 2011

FVC is one of the leading Value Added Distributors (VAD) in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. With new technologies and solutions driving the pace of change of businesses in the region, the competitive edge increasingly comes from exploiting new opportunities in technology before competitors. In this competitive environment, FVC has been able to build a successful business quickly by drawing on the best of global solutions.

Uniquely in the region, this combination of full support for channel partners and market-leading products for emerging technologies provides both partners and their customers with the full confidence to invest in integrated next-generation IT and networking solutions from Rich media communications to security to bandwidth management that will benefit their businesses.

FVC is seeing strong growth and dominance of visual and unified communications in the region. Its partnership with Polycom, one of the leading players in video conferencing and telepresence technology, is driving linear growth in the region with leading customers adopting visual communications from the leaders in this space.

With dynamic changes in the industry and the world driving cost reductions in business while enhancing communications and productivity, visual communications are the next best thing compared to meeting face to face. While large enterprises and multi location businesses have adopted visual communications, a huge opportunity exists with small and medium enterprises to do the same.

One of key drivers of video adoption has been about availability of good quality bandwidth at affordable costs. Telecom providers play a big role in this ecosystem, supporting businesses who are adopting the next generation unified and visual communications to globalize and grow their business efficiency through communicating beyond borders. FVC’s partnership with one of the leading telecom players in the region to provide Managed Video as a service (MVaaS) was a result of this change in market dynamics.

MVaaS offers Managed Video Services to businesses in the UAE and around the region, making it easier for small as well as large enterprises to adopt next generation visual communication technologies. The offering includes providing customers a unified service that includes bandwidth, endpoints based on Polycom technology, device management, commercial flexibility (CAPEX or OPEX) and bridging services available in a pay as- you-go model. The “Video or Virtual” Network Operations Centre (VNOC) service is powered by Polycom UC Intelligent Core infrastructure and expertise from FVC in successfully delivering endpoints and VNOC services.

FVC was looking for a partner to co-host this solution to ensure smooth delivery of this service and eHosting DataFort (eHDF) was chosen to do this. eHDF’s choice as a partner was made easier because of the successful existing relationship between FVC and eHDF, built on working on each other’s technologies around network optimization and security.
